Case Study: Story Contracting - International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day on the 8th of March 2023, Story Contracting, in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce, invited 15 young girls from local high schools to join them on-site at their Ravenscraig Project in Motherwell.

On the day, the girls were joined by four female colleagues from Story, all of which represented different disciplines within the industry; with representation from HSQE & quality assurance, engineering, geotechnical and communications.

After presentations from each colleague, and 1-2-1s with the Story team, the girls were taken down to the works by their scheme project manager to gain a good understanding of the fundamental piece of civil engineering structure and what goes on at a live site.

Due to this session, Story are now taking on one of the girls for a work placement to gain a deeper understanding of the career in the construction industry.

Story showcased the rewarding careers available in the construction and engineering industry.

“Thank you so much for the opportunity of a work placement! I had a great time on International Women’s Day, I learned a lot from the Story women and it has made me even more interested in going into construction. I am really looking forward to the work experience days!”
